WHO WE ARE

Farm to Future Initiative (FFI) is a not-for-profit organization registered with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal and governed by a dedicated Board of Members. Established in 2024, FFI was founded to address persistent gaps in rural agriculture by promoting sustainable, market-driven solutions and creating resilient farming communities.

We work closely with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and local partners to transform traditional subsistence farming into modern, profitable agri-enterprises. Our initiatives focus on reducing post-harvest losses, improving market access, and building robust value chains for high-value, long shelf-life products such as pickles, ghee, honey, legumes, and black rice.

In addition to crop-based value chains, FFI pioneers aquatic-agriculture programs in Madhesh Province, collaborating with the Mithila Makhana Institute to promote makhana (fox nuts), fishery, and other aquatic crops. Currently, we are active in Bagmati Province and Madhesh Province, with programs designed to empower women and youth, strengthen rural entrepreneurship, and build inclusive, climate-resilient agricultural systems.

WHAT WE DO

At FFI, we focus on the following key areas:

  • Value Chain Development: We support farmers to shift from low-value, perishable crops to high-value productsthat have longer shelf life and better market potential.

  • Capacity Building: We provide training, skills development, and technical guidance to enhance farming practices and entrepreneurial capacity, especially for women and youth groups.

  • Market Linkages and Branding: We develop branding, packaging, and marketing strategies for rural products to reach urban markets and premium buyers.

  • Innovation in Aquatic-Agriculture: We promote wetland crops and aquatic-agri products like makhana (fox nuts) and fishery to diversify farmer income streams.

  • Sustainable Practices: We align all activities with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring our initiatives foster environmental sustainability, food security, and inclusive growth.
